Timmy was a turtle. Always a little sluggish and slow, but that fits with the characteristics of a turtle. He would constantly daydream of flying like a bird. He learned to be comfortable in the wet surroundings of the pond. Ribbly, his friendly frog neighbor was always ragging on him; "Why do you stare up at the birds in the sky? You're never going to fly!" Still, it was something that he always really wanted to do. One day while swimming through the pond, he saw an odd-looking lamp. It looked kinda valuable so he brought it home to Tully his wife. She said, "What the heck are you doing with this dirty old thing?" She dusted it off and when she did a long slender ghost-type spirit slid out and said, "Now that you have freed me I will grant you three wishes." He really had to think about it for he knew that he always wanted to fly, but if he did that he would have to say goodbye to Tully. He replied, "Do I have to answer right away?" The spirit replied, "I'll give you three days." This was a very tough decision for him because he always felt content with his pond surroundings. Everyone had enough food. He was feeling frisky so he just went for it. "I wish me and Tully could fly!" POOF! They both sprouted helicopter-type propellers on top of their shells. Timmy was a little confused for he was expecting wings, but still, they took to the sky right away. Certainly felt different than swimming in the old pond. Flying through the clouds he got an idea for his second wish, "I wish the clouds were full of earthworms and grubs, so Tully and I can eat while we fly!" POOF! It was done. And immediately it started to rain earthworms and grubs. He could see the animals below him getting rained on by these creepy crawlers and instantly regretted his second wish. He cried to the spirit, "Make it stop!" POOF! And the mystical being said, "That was your third wish." And then they disappeared. He realized he wasted two of his wishes, but still, he could fly with his sweet copter topper!
They flew as high as they could. Maybe too high for the sky was starting to look like space and it was getting chilly causing shell shock. They were enjoying their newfound freedom but kind of missed Ribbly and their other pond friends. After a couple of months of flying freely, they had enough and decided to fly their copter toppers into the trees so they would break off. You see it turns out that they were already happy in the pond. Sometimes you're already content and you shouldn't try to reach out for more and more.
